I’m Mariela Cox, founder of Forte Vita Wellness — and I don’t believe strength has an expiration date.
For over eight years, I’ve helped athletes and everyday people fuel their bodies, move with confidence, and reclaim their strength. But my true passion is working with men and women over 40, because I understand firsthand how pain, injuries, and physical limitations can change the way you see your body and your future.
I live with scoliosis, and for years I was told to be careful, slow down, or accept discomfort as “normal.” Instead, fitness became my lifeline. Learning how to move properly, strengthen intelligently, and respect my body without giving up on it didn’t just change how I felt physically... It changed my confidence, my mindset, and my belief in what’s possible at any age.
That lived experience is what shapes how I coach today.
As a certified personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist, yoga instructor, nutrition coach, and life coach, I take a holistic, realistic approach to wellness. My focus is on mobility, injury prevention, and functional strength, helping you move better, reduce pain, rebuild confidence, and stay independent for decades to come.
My clients range from 40 to 98 years old, many of whom come to me with injuries, chronic pain, joint issues, or medical conditions. Every single one of them is proof that it’s never too late to feel strong, capable, and in control of your body again.
They call me “Sarge” because I’m tough... but I’m tough with purpose. I’ll challenge you when you need it, protect you when your body needs care, and stand beside you when progress feels slow. I don’t believe in breaking people down. I believe in building them back up stronger than before.

I’m Kyle Cox, co-founder of Forte Vita Wellness, and I understand what it feels like when your body starts to wear down.
Before becoming a personal trainer, I spent years working as a professional chef — long hours on my feet, hot kitchens, constant stress, and very little time to recover. Over time, I felt the impact in my body: stiffness, fatigue, aches, and the realization that ignoring how you move and fuel yourself eventually catches up with you.
That experience is what led me to functional fitness.
Functional fitness isn’t about extreme workouts or chasing exhaustion. It’s about learning how to move safely, build real strength, and feel confident in your body again, especially as you get older. It’s the kind of training that helps you get through everyday life like lifting groceries, climbing stairs, standing longer, and moving without fear of pain or injury.
Along the way, I’ve worked with professional athletes, helping them improve performance through nutrition. Today, I bring that same thoughtful, individualized approach to men and women over 40 who may be dealing with injuries, joint pain, or years of physical wear and tear and who simply want to feel capable and independent again.
With my background in nutrition and culinary arts, I also help clients learn how to eat in a way that supports their health and goals without giving up the foods they enjoy. Because fitness isn’t just about what you do in the gym, it’s about how you eat, recover, and live every day.
